#BlackLivesMatter

Like many people I have been closely watching recent events in the United States. I wanted to express my sincere condolences to George Floyd’s family and to the families of others affected by police brutality all over the world.

Racism is not acceptable in any form and certainly not in this day and age. I state my solidarity with the #BlackLivesMatter movement, and my commitment to addressing racial inequality in my academic and museum work.

I also wanted to offer some practical resources to empower other allies, so would like to point people in the direction of this list of resources. Many of the items are available online, and I recommend starting with the film 13th, as it explains the historic, systematic racism that has led up to today’s protests.

If you have other resources you would like to share, please use the comments below to do so.
